That upd8 post got like 250 notes and I’m just up 2 followers?
that math ain’t right. I know I failed trig one semester that one year but that isn’t adding up.
Don’t look at me I’m not punk rock enough.
mikecyr said: I don’t know, his work in Harry Potter was what really launched him. Unfortunately his work with Twilight will undoubtedly hinder him. Perhaps it’s just my distaste for Twilight speaking.
I think he’ll be hindered (if he’s hindered) more because writers and directors would rather prefer to work with an actor that wouldn’t insult their craft.
Yeah whatever, twillight might be the worst thing to ever happen to the publishing industry. AFAIK it only started a vampire fad much like harry potter started a wizard one.
But it’s still had a woman’s blood sweat and tears spent into writing it - and from what I heard she got better and her newer series is rather more palatable though I have no experience reading it
(No one gets worse from writing more though)
which is kind of the reason why I refuse to hate Twillight and 50 shades as I’ve only read a couple of chapters of Twillight and a couple of scenes from 50 shades - hardly enough to get an accurate idea of the series
but I digress
It made young people read (and eventually move to greener pastures), and no matter how much we hate it or how cool it is to hate it, Twillight is still a book that people love.
So when I hear that Pattinson auditioned with the full intent of making Edward even creepier and stony instead of doing the best he could to enrich the character and maybe - just maybe - give the audience a stronger reason to fall in love with his character (as Bella) than “the plot demands so” through his acting
or that he was just “SO RELIEVED” to leave the set and “get his dignity back” when they finished filming
I just think he’s deliberately insulting Smeyer, Twillight fans and all the other people that helped him get where he is now. Sure he might have won the attention of american audiences with harry potter but a one movie minor character that died at the end is hardly a career launcher compared to a 5 movie franchise.
Although I can’t say much about her new series, Meyer’s work on Twilight was abysmal even if it did get a bunch of people to read. The fact of the matter is her characters were horrid and the story was horrid.
Was Pattinson the most professional with the work? No. Was the work professional to begin with? No. And I think that’s were a lot of the disdain for the series and the franchise in general.
As a person whose tried really hard to get published, knowing crap like Twilight and Fifty Shades of Grey exist, I have a lot of strong feelings regarding it. Stuff I can’t explain without a shit ton of vulgarity. Because they are just that awful.
I sympathize with Pattinson, but at the end of the day his face is attached to a massive blockbuster and a lot of dollar signs so… Good on everyone involved?
I really can’t say much for hollywood and how the movies work so… I’ll just dry heave over twilight in my own little corner.
If there’s anybody out there who gives a flying fuck, the long-fic is tentatively title A Difference of Opinion.
And as much trouble as I’ve had with moving it forward, you should know I’m a master of revising. Mostly because I have little to no attachment to my work anymore.
Excuse me whilst I freak the fuck out.
A post about English and writing? Cool.
Never mind, tumblr turned it into a fucking mess about racism and class.
